Purpose:
The Aerocrine Fellows Program supports a developing academic 2nd year fellow specializing in Asthma / Allergy / Immunology. The grant will be awarded to one fellow who proposes a new research study utilizing exhaled nitric oxide to improve asthma management in which patient enrollment can be completed during the 2011-2012 fellowship year. It is intended that the research findings will result in publication.
Award:
A $25,000 stipend for one year of education in asthma/allergy/immunology beginning July 1, 2010 will be awarded. Award payments will be made quarterly to the program of the selected fellow. The funding can support the salary of the recipient and/or purchase of supplies, the salaries of technical personnel and other resources necessary for the completion of the research project.
Equipment: Aerocrine will supply a NIOX MINO® asthma inflammation monitor for measurement of exhaled NO (eNO) and consumables necessary to complete the research protocol. Device is to be returned to Aerocrine upon completion of research protocol.
Eligibility:
The fellow must be attending a certified fellowship program. A Fellow-in Training Candidate must either be an MD or DO who has successfully completed a first year of asthma/allergy/immunology training as of June 30, 2011.

Selection:
All applicants will be reviewed by Aerocrine’s Medical Director and a selected panel of Allergists. The Fellows Program Award winner will be selected on the scientific level of the proposed research and the importance of eNO in clinical use. All applicants will be notified in writing of the award selection by April 30, 2010. Funding begins July 1, 2010.
The award is for the fellowship of the individual identified in the application. No substitutions without prior approval from Aerocrine, Inc.
